How Faculty Can Order Books for Classes

All required and recommended books are purchased by the library and located in the reserve collection for student use

  • Find out if the book is already available
  • We already have the book? You are done!
  • We will order any item for the reserve collection that we do not already have in our collection
  • Downer's Grove Library orders books for the reserve collection for Downer's Grove only
  • Glendale Library orders books for the reserve collection for Glendale only

To order a book not in your campus library send an email to: reference@midwestern.edu

Provide:

  • Your name and campus affiliation
  • Course number and name
  • Quarter your course will be taught
  • How many students expected in the class
  • As much data about the book as you have
    • Title, authors or editors, edition number,year, publisher, and ISBN if possible
  • Please call your local library if you have any questions about this process

Posting Library Links for Off Campus Users

  • Links to library content need to include our proxy
  • Students off campus or on rotation will encounter errors if links are not correct
  • Contact Susie Bossenga, E-resources librarian for proxied links
  • Use the reference email if she is not available

Software that has to be requested from I.T.S.

EndNote Desktop - call I.T.S. to have the latest version of EndNote Desktop downloaded to your MWU computer. We are not licensed to download on any personal computer or laptop

ChemDraw Prime - call I.T.S. to have ChemDraw Prime downloaded to your MWU computer.

Recommend a Book for Purchase

Send an email to Rebecca Caton, Director of Library Services, and recommend books for the MWU library collection.

  • Provide
    • Book title
    • ISBN
    • print or e-book preference and your campus location.
    • It may take up to 6 weeks if your suggestion is approved for the book to be available in the collection
       
  • Contact your campus library directly if the item(s) are to be used for a particular course (See Reserve Books on this page)
     
  • Some books may not be available in e-book format
