Rapid Evidence Assessments: Establish Your Scope

Purpose:

A well-developed research question will inform your search terms, inclusion criteria, etc.

Ensure there is no systematic review published on your topic in the last five years. Leverage similar systematic reviews to inform the development of your rapid evidence assessment.

Formulate Your Research Question

P patient / problem What is the condition or diagnosis of the patient? What are the most important characteristics of the patient?
I intervention What intervention are you interested in? What therapy/exercise are you considering?
C comparison / control What is the alternative? No treatment? Standard treatment?
O outcome(s) What do you hope to do for the patient? What do you want to accomplish?

Research Question

Write your research question in the PICO format:

In a [patient/problem], will [intervention] compared to [comparison] lead to [outcome]?
