Introduction

Google Scholar is a search engine for finding articles and saving citations for use in your work. Using Google Scholar you are able to:

  • Search for articles using keywords and Boolean search terms or the Advanced Search box
  • Save PDFs if they are available publicly or through the MWU library
  • Save articles to your library to read and use later
  • Cite articles you find with ready-made citations in several styles
  • Import articles and citations into your own citation manager or a Word document with browser extensions and plugins

Library Links

Access settings via the hamburger menu/ three lines menu in the top left corner of the Google Scholar homepage to include Midwestern University Library access links in your search results.

Ensure access to available sources by logging in via the University Library.

Browser Extensions

  • Google Scholar is compatible with Endnote Online and Endnote 21. Ready-made citations can be imported via the Cite button.
  • Scholar PDF Reader: Preview and export citations and navigate PDFs from Google Scholar in Google Chrome.
  • Google Scholar Button: Access Google Scholar and search for articles from any webpage in Google Chrome.

Log in to Google Scholar using a Gmail address.

Save

The Save icon in Google Scholar.

Click the Save button below an article to save it to your Google Scholar library for later use.
