Using Papers: Account Setup

1. Go to Papers using the link above.
2. Enter your Midwestern University email to register for an account.
   • Fill out your name, password, and Midwestern University affiliation (student, faculty, staff, etc.)
3. Go to your Midwestern University email and copy the confirmation code sent from ReadCube to verify your account.

* Please note: Papers is provided through MWU library subscription

Install the Papers Browser Extension to import references data, notes, and (potentially) PDFs to your library as you search for articles.

1. Click to access the Papers Download Center.
2. Scroll down to locate the Browser Extensions section
3. Select your preferred browser and complete the installation process.

* Note for Mac users: Enable the extension and allow it access all websites in Safari. Instructions on extension settings.
* Note for iPad users: The browser extension is not currently supported on iPad.

1. Click to access the Downloads Center
2. Scroll to locate the Desktop App and select Windows or Mac.
3. Run the downloaded file.
4. Log in with your Papers account information. 

The desktop app has additional features including easier transition from other reference managers, copy and paste references in your preferred citation style into documents, merge duplicates, and reopen PDFs after closing the app.

Select merge duplicates in the pop-up that appears as you start to send references to your Papers library.

1. When the pop-up appears, select Remember this setting for future imports
2. Click Merge Duplicates

OR

1. Click the Readcube Icon [] in the Papers desktop app
2. Select Papers Settings
3. Click Library in the menu and select Automatically merge duplicates when dragging and dropping files
