This guide is a collaboration between the MWU library and Student Services to support students' scholarly writing. 

Learning specialists and librarians are here to provide instruction, guidance, education, and support through all stages of the writing process. 

Learning specialists and librarian specialize in different portions of the writing process:

Learning specialists

• Assist you throughout the writing process
• Help identify logical organization for your paper
• Teach you to correct errors in spelling, punctuation and verb tenses
• Assist you with the revising and editing process

Librarians

• Provide resources for setting up your paper in AMA or APA style
• Teach you how to find research to support your argument or identify gaps in evidence
• Demonstrate how to select relevant databases and refine your search strategy
• Show you how to create in-text citations and a reference list in AMA or APA
• Instruct you on when and how to cite

The learning specialists and librarians support your professional development and scholarship by teaching you the conventions of scientific writing and research. Please note that we do not proof-read or copy edit.

We encourage you to make an appointment to receive guidance and develop new skills.
